HGTV Secret Revealed! What’s Wrong With Every House I’ve Done on HGTV?

HGTV Jasmine Roth with Orange and Navy Door

You guys loved hearing my last HGTV secret, and now there’s no stopping me! Sorry, HGTV! They’re just such fun little details, I want to share them with you all. This time, I’m telling you: there’s something wrong with every single house on both seasons of my show, Hidden Potential. And no, I’m not talking about something wrong with the house before I fix it, I’m saying there’s something wrong with it after I do their reno. And it has a little something to do with curb appeal…

What’s the HGTV Secret?

Okay, I’ll tell you! What’s wrong with every house on Hidden Potential? Answer: The house numbers. That’s right. We change them around to protect the privacy of the homeowner, so the numbers you see on every Hidden Potential house are not the correct address. Not even close!

And since house numbers are such a huge part of my design when it comes to curb appeal, we make sure to change them because we know we’ll be shooting them for the show. And speaking of house numbers, I know you guys love them too! You had such a great response to my last post about house numbers, so I wanted to talk about them more today and show you more inspiration from past projects of mine.

When you’re working on your home’s curb appeal or even the design of the inside of your house, don’t forget about the house numbers. This is the perfect way to show off your style and connect it to the rest of your home’s design. And when you pay attention to the seemingly little details, it always pays off. Trust me.

These floral ones are so fun – then there’s always this classic wood sign too! Which house numbers are you loving from the list?

Why type of house numbers would you suggest for a 1995 center hall colonial in Saratoga Springs NY area. The house needs a lift, so boring! It’s very traditional with beige siding.

I have yet to find house numbers that work with a ‘S’ in the address between numbers. Any suggestions?

I’m no designer but I wonder if you made the S a different color. I would do the numbers in black or stained wood then the S the color of your front door.

I’m in an apartment in HB. Apartment is located behind front house. Guessing once upon a time, front house had a huge yard.

Can’t find a background for 1 digit. It would sure help with food delivering and such.

Landlord okayed & I love the floral.

THANKS FOR BRINGING THIS UP. We’re excited about getting digits!
