The Baby Products I Never Use And 11 I Can’t Live Without

HGTV Jasmine Roth Baby Items She Can't Live Without

A few months post baby and there are a few baby products I never use. And when I was making my registry, all I heard from other parents was how much I actually DON’T NEED for baby. They warned me that first-time parents have a tendency to overdo the purchasing and end up with all kinds of gadgets that they don’t really need. I listened and actually feel like we did a pretty good job only buying things we need. And turns out, they were right!

The main things we bought that we didn’t (or haven’t yet) used are: Dyson Humidifier, Disposable Nursing Pads (I like these cotton ones way more!), and we had mittens but never used them! That said, here are some of my favorite (this is in no way sponsored!) products and why I like each one.

11 Baby Products I Can’t Live Without

Simply click on any square below to shop the item, or scroll down to see what I have to say about each one!

1. Love to Dream Swaddle

Hazel sleeps in this swaddle every night. We call it her “dolphin suit” because we have the gray color and she looks like she has fins. We tried the swaddle that comes with the SNOO Smart Sleeper, but she didn’t like having her arms down. The minute we switched to this swaddle she slept so much better.

2. Crate & Kids Swaddle Blankets

These are our favorite blankets and they come in all different colors. Hazel always has a blanket with her and these are the perfect size.

3. Heavier Blanket

This blanket just makes me smile every time I see it. It wears really great, too!

4. Newborn Moccasins

Shoes that actually fit and stay on a newborn’s feet – genius! We love these moccasins by Freshly Picked.

5. Doona Carseat Stroller

This is seriously the carseat/stroller of the future, you guys. So for those of you that are new to the game, this is a stroller/carseat that’s all in one. That’s right, you put it into your car without having to detach anything or put anything in the trunk. It’s like the transformer of the baby world. Hazel also loves it, and it has great safety ratings. I seriously love, love, love this product!

6. Snoo Smart Sleeper

If you follow me on social, you see me posting videos of little Hazel waking up in the morning. At just 2 months old, she’s sleeping from about 9:30pm to 4:30am, then back to sleep until 7:15am. For all you new parents (or future parents): when baby sleeps, life is good, and because of this smart sleeper, LIFE IS GOOD.

It calms her with white noise of varying levels, soothes her with motion that ranges from light rocking all the way to a bumpy car ride, and when she gets older it will keep her on her back which gives Brett and I peace of mind.  She’ll sleep in this until about 6 months old, and it has a self-weaning feature.  The idea is that it replicates what she was used to in the womb and it makes the transition to sleeping in a crib a little easier.  I can’t recommend this more highly!

7. Diaper Rash Cream

This stuff really works! Our pediatrician is from Russia and has a lot of European patients. They all swear by this Swiss product and I can see why. It’s expensive, but totally worth it.

8. Snot Sucker

I never thought I would use this nasal aspirator and I use it every day. Boogers be gone!

9. Baby Nail Kit

I really like the file in this nail kit.

10. Baby Bouncy Chair

Hazel LOVES this chair. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also not the worst! Seeing how much she likes it makes up for the looks. Plus, it’s a safe place for her to hang out while we cook dinner.

11. Newborn Pillow Seat

We use this EVERY DAY. It’s so perfect for newborns and Hazel loves to sit in it.

Are there any other moms out there that ended up buying a TON of baby products you don’t use? Let me know which ones so I’m not alone!

Hang on to the humidifier! At some point in Hazel’s life (and maybe even yours) you will need it.

You don’t need the mittens since you use the swaddle and the smart sleeper keeps your babies hands away from her face. Her nails will grow like crazy, so keep a couple of mittens just in case because once you start going out more with her she will put her hands across her face and scratch herself. I Wish these products were around when I had my kids! Looks ohhh so comfy. The stroller is utter genius WOW! Enjoy Hazel, time sure flies by! 😘 she is adorable, god bless your family.

We never used the mittens either! By around 3 months, she’s chewing on her hands and fingers and having mittens on doesn’t promote her motor development. Just keep her nails trimmed! We love the Love to Dream swaddle too!

I love that bouncy chair. That coloration is better than what I had for my granddaughters because it is gender neutral. I now have a 2 week old grandson but he is going to be using the pink Fisher Price bouncy seat we already have!!
