The Most Popular Decor Trends the Decade You Were Born
You know one of the things I love about design? How dang cyclical it can be! Some people might think that’s annoying, but I honestly like it. Because it shows us what stands the test of time and isn’t just trendy. Yes, there are some things that come and go with each decade, but there’s always a few mainstays that keep showing up in design over the years because they’re solid. Think Mid-Century Modern furniture styles or even the time we’re living in now. You can tell what’s a fleeting style and you can also see what will probably stick around (but I won’t spoil it for you here in this sentence!). Okay without further ado, I’m going to share with you the most popular decor trends the decade you were born. Why?? Because it’s fun! And because I truly want to know what yours is AND if you like that particular style at all! Because I’m an 80s baby… that’s all I’m sayin’. Let me know in the comments! Or come tell me on Instagram!

Was born almost 50 years ago (12/12/71), so there was lots of plaid, browns & oranges, mustard yellows and olive greens, vinyl, formica, pleather furniture, plastic coveted furniture to name just a few. Definitely not my style at all, thank goodness 😅
Born August1962, retro decor was popular. My favorite was the shag rugs and all the earthy tones of green, yellow, orange. Forget paint! Wallpaper was in every room. I had my leftover bedroom wallpaper as drawer liners up until I moved out of my parents home in 1980.
Love wallpaper today!
Born in 1966; I believe Mid-Century Modern was the style at the time, but I love Modern Farmhouse and Tuscan design for the home.
