Before I became a mom, I never imagined myself being obsessed with baby swim gear and accessories. But now baby swim classes are routine with Hazel! I'm not sure if loving the water is something...
You Asked, I Answered: How to Not Wreck Your House, Part 1
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that I did a live Q&A a few weeks ago. In the spirit of my show Help! I Wrecked My House, I hopped on that Instagram live to answer some of the most-asked house questions from you guys about your OWN homes. I get so many DMs, emails, comments – you name it – from people asking me to come fix their “wrecked” houses. And even though I can’t come help all of you, I wish I could!
You all asked me so many great questions on that Q&A (and I wish I could answer them all!) so I wanted to pull some questions out from that and turn them into a more informative blog post! In fact: I want to make it into a series! We could all use some helpful ways to not wreck our houses, right?! Here are the 3 questions I was asked the most frequently in that Q&A (and that I’m asked everywhere else, too).
3 Answers to Your Most-Asked House Questions
1. What is the best place to buy Dutch doors?
You guys know I LOVE using Dutch doors in my designs. Here are some of my fave doors and accessories for those doors…
2. Quartz vs. marble countertops?
If you watch either Hidden Potential or Help! I Wrecked My House, you’ve probably heard me say, “In this house we’re using a quartz that looks like marble…” And yes, I’m also including my favorite things to style with quartz right here!
3. What is your favorite bathroom tile?
Bathroom tile, let me count the ways that I love you! No really, there’s a big world of tile out there so it can feel overwhelming, but I actually have the same go-to places…

Hello Jasmine, I am having a blast with your emails & of course your shows!! Keep up the good work you do!! God bless!!
Jasmine,
Thank you so much for taking time away from little Miss Hazel, your family (including Tiger) and chillaxin with your feet up to put this blog together for all of us that follow your career, advice, and tips. I stumbled across Hidden Potential one day and have since used several ideas in your own home. I am humbled and inspired by your kindness, generosity and down to earth nature. You are a very bright light in the midst of some very dark times.
Yep ! She is a bright light for sure !!
I really enjoy reading your blogs – you are so personable & down to earth! Your design is exactly what people need to have comfortable homes they can be proud to share when it’s safe again. I knew you were going to win Rock the Block! Some designers are too much drama – I would never want that negative energy in my house! You are truly a breath of fresh air.
We had a house fire 4-1/2 years ago that brought our house down to the studs. When we rebuilt, I was so overwhelmed and I regret some of my hurried and money-worried choices, BUT I will never regret choosing my quartz kitchen counters! Everyone who visits, loves them, and I love the durability as well as their beauty.
Jasmine, I’m with you I Love Dutch Doors too. I do have a question. Do we have to use a storm door with a Dutch Door to keep from having drafts? It changes the classic “Jasmine Look” to put a storm door in front of it. Any suggestions.
Great choices for your favorites, I love them all! I think I’m most intrigued by the Dutch doors. They look sooo fun!
I have awalys wondered about quartz vs granite, I know with granite you can put a hot object and it will not damage it as it would the quartz. So I have opted for granite all the time, eventhough I love the color selection and the look of quartz. What are your thpughts on the granite?
Hi, I recently stumbled onto your show. It was Season 1, Episode 3. I loved how there were plants growing over the pergola. What type of plants do you prefer.
