Help! I Wrecked My House, Season 4, Episode 1: Japandi Dreaming

Help! I Wrecked My House, Season 4, Episode 1: Japandi Dreaming

Project Overview:

THE HOMEOWNER:

MJ and Jason

THE BUDGET:

$170K

THE STORY:

On the first episode of ‘Help! I Wrecked My House’ Season 4: In Too Deep, MJ and Jason bought this house as is, expecting it to be their forever home. Although it wasn’t their dream home when they purchased it, they could see the potential in the home and loved that it was less than a mile from the beach. The couple began to renovate, but after a year realized the project was too big for the two of them. Having a special needs daughter meant that figuring out the accessibility in the home was their biggest priority—doors needed to be widened, bathrooms had to be modified, and a lift would need to be installed. And if I’m being honest, it was probably the most wrecked house I had ever seen! MJ and Jason were very overwhelmed with trying to figure this all out themselves, so I was excited to step in to help.

THE PLAN:

This project was more than a home renovation, it was creating a new chapter and fresh start for MJ and Jason’s family. Although the upstairs and downstairs needed to be renovated, with their current budget, we had to stick to the downstairs area only. My plan was to make this their dream home, ensuring each room was accessible for their daughter. This was one of the biggest projects I had ever worked on, and there was no time to waste!

  • Really love this Reno. Two questions. One, where did you get the cute top you wore during the reveal and two, is there information about the lift you put in? Thanks.
