5 Things to Look For at Goodwill

5 Things to Look For at Goodwill

One not-so-secret thing about me is that I LOVE a good thrift item.  Or trash item.  No, really… I pull things out of the trash all the time and put them in my home.  Basically it comes down to this: I like older things that have a story to them, or a patina to them or just things that don’t look super new.  I think one good design rule to have in each room is to add something vintage.  So over the years of building and designing homes, I’ve definitely developed some solid tricks when it comes to scoring good finds.  Now, I don’t really have a formula for finding things in the trash or on the side of the road (because that’s pretty random!), but I do have a list of 5 things to look for at Goodwill.  And if you don’t have a Goodwill nearby you, this really applies to any thrift or second-hand store.

Cool, old lights always add a ton of impact to a room, so definitely be on the lookout for those.  This one below I found in a box at a thrift market, but you get the idea!

If you have a cool glass cabinet like this that you want to style, filling it with quirky, vintage dinner sets would look amazing!

And don’t forget pottery or planters!  Goodwill always has a ton of both.  Happy hunting!
