My Favorite Low-Maintenance Plants, The Blog by Jasmine Roth

It’s almost springtime, so I definitely have my favorite low-maintenance plants on the brain!  If you’re like me, you feel like the key to success with landscaping is low maintenance.

Okay that, and it has to look GREAT.  Through the years I’ve planted SO MANY PLANTS and if you know me at all, you know that I LOVE LANDSCAPING.  So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I’ve come up with a few tried and true favorites.

Now before you go and plant these beauties in your yard, remember that while I’m from the East Coast (Oh hey, Virginia! ??) most of my landscaping experience is in Southern California.  So I’m not saying that these plants won’t work where you live, but I would definitely double check with your local garden center first.  So without further ado, here are my FAVORITE PLANTS…

My Favorite Low-Maintenance Plants

Favorite Hedge

Buddleia Davidii Butterfly Bush

Favorite Privacy Screen

Ficus Nitida

Favorite Groundcover

Huntington Blue Rosemary

Favorite Flower

New Gold Lantana

Favorite Grass

Mexican Feather Grass

Favorite Shrub

Bougainvillea La Jolla

And if you need some ideas for designing a nice little patio area where you can chill and enjoy your plants, I’ve got you covered there too!

Canvas Garden Apron // Leather Gloves // Fiskars Spade // Gorilla Cart // Watering Can // Heritage Hose // Pink Lemon Tree // Garden Clogs

Lantana is my favorite flowering plant too. It’s native here in FL, so I literally go dig it out of the woods and plant it in my garden beds. It flowers for so long and you can’t kill it!

I put Mexican Feather Grass on my entire slope. I love it in the mornings when the water droplets are visible, it bring so much peace to me.

    Hi Jasmine,
What plants would you recommend that are dog friendly. We are in South Orange County. Our slope and planters use to be abundant with ground cover, but our dogs running and playing has killed everything but the trees. Thank you
