Renovating Park City Mountain Resort
November 04 2025
I never could have expected this to be the next step in my story. When I committed to a new renovation project in Park City, I was already so excited to take it on. But then I got another call.
It was from Park City Mountain Resort. Yes, the actual Park City Mountain Resort — the largest ski resort in the United States. And I couldn’t believe what they were asking. They wanted to know if I’d be interested in renovating the historic lodge at the top of the mountain.
Park City has always been such a special place for our family. It’s where my husband and I got married in 2013, where we’ve spent countless days snowboarding, and where our five-year-old daughter, Hazel, first learned to ride, and now the place we call home!
So, as overwhelming as another big project seemed, and considering I don’t usually take on commercial work, this was an opportunity I couldn’t say no to. I had to do it and I had to go big. One of the most important parts of this project (and maybe the reason Park City Mountain Resort called me in the first place) is the attention to detail needed to make this renovation a success. This building is what I like to call “well loved.” It’s full of history and heart, and I couldn’t be more honored to bring it back to life. Digging into this project means honoring its story, making thoughtful design choices, and not being afraid of the hard stuff.
This was ultimately a cosmetic refresh and we were keeping a lot of what’s already here. The midcentury beams were staying as well as the industrial metal brackets. Park City is a mining town and my idea to make this feel more in line with the history by painting the posts black to make them feel like steel. I also decided to add a large mural on the back wall, which is a play straight out of my playbook for those of you who have been around for a while. My biggest mural yet!
This project was challenging and rewarding all at once. I’m so thankful to the team at Park City Mountain Resort for trusting me with this space, and to HGTV for believing in my magic every step of the way. It truly means the world!
