Patio furniture can SERIOUSLY break the bank. So a lot of times we end up buying something cheap just to have on our patio or in our backyard so we can enjoy our outdoor space. But it's something...
So you guys – this is such a surreal story to write. As you know, I work A LOT and getting pregnant has been on the radar, but its never felt like there was a good time. So in the summer of 2019, I “pulled the goalie” as they say, but then proceeded to film “Rock the Block” and “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” for HGTV. Both assignments I was traveling, so getting pregnant was the last thing on my mind. Imagine my surprise when I got home from a fabulous Greek vacation, and couldn’t shake some serious nausea.
We arrived home late Wednesday night, and I could barely walk. I chalked it up to motion sickness from the plane and the uber ride home, and went straight to bed. The next day Brett and I were whisked off to LA for a “Red Shag Carpet Party” to kick off HGTV’s new show “Very Brady Renovation”. Was I sick as a dog – yes. Did I drink soda water and not eat – yes. Did I even so much as suspect pregnancy – nope! Finally, one of my favorite HGTV execs said, “you know you shouldn’t really have motion sickness anymore – I bet you’re pregnant”. Wait – WHAT!?! I went home, went to bed, wondering what the next day might bring. Here are some pics of that night – I had no idea!
The next morning I woke up and was still really nauseous. Brett went to work and I walked across the street to the liquor store and found a dusty old pregnancy test on the back shelf. I walked home and went into my first floor bathroom. Immediately the test read POSITIVE. Wait – WHAT!?! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I grabbed the box and it said to wait 5 minutes for the results.
At the end of the 5 minutes – back to the bathroom I went. Sure enough – I was pregnant. YAY! I started to hyperventilate a little and couldn’t have been more excited to call Brett. Poor guy was sitting at his desk with no clue I had even bought a test. I facetimed him and showed him the test. Ahhhhhh!!!!! Only problem, his door was open and his office shares walls. He couldn’t even properly react! I got a thumbs up out of him though.
That day I immediately went to the doctor and she ordered blood work to see how far along we might be. I spent that weekend cooped up inside, feeling super sick, excited, and even a little lonely not being able to share the big news with anyone yet. Honestly the weekend felt like a year!
Finally on Monday we had our first legit doctor’s appt. Brett and I walked into the waiting room and the excitement almost overwhelmed me. Or maybe that was the nausea – either way…I had all the feels! We went into the ultrasound room (Brett did great, considering it was his first time at an obstetrician’s office) and I climbed up on the table. Within seconds, there was a heartbeat. Wait – WHAT!?! We both started laughing and were so excited! We were about 6 weeks, 4 days they told us.
