Steal the Look: The 11th Street Retreat Master Bedroom
The secret’s out: I’m selling my house. Truth be told, I’m excited about it, but also a little bit sappy! Excited because I get to pass this amazing home onto someone else, and sappy because this is the first project I ever did! My heart and soul went into this house. I also really honed and refined my signature style in this house. And one of the rooms that really captures that signature mix of California casual, vintage and custom is our master bedroom.
Plus, I get a lot of questions about this room on social media! So, just like I did with my stairwell in this house, I’m breaking down this room and showing you how to steal the look in case you want to recreate it in your own home! You’re welcome 😉
The 11th Street Retreat Master Bedroom: How to Steal the Look
First things first: I’m breaking this room down into two sections – the bed and the sitting area. For the bed, there are some really cool design elements that set this room apart from others (if I do say so myself!). One of those things this the macrame hanging over the bed. It really adds depth and texture to the whole space.
Another favorite trick of mine: hang a vintage swag light over your bedside table instead of a lamp! Instant gamechanger. And lastly… you know I could never design a space without some functional basket storage!
The Sitting Area
I LOVE this sitting area, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to miss it! The star of this space is the “Take it Easy” print by my friends Kim and Tim at Ripe Designs. And if you have the room for it, adding a couch in the bedroom provides a great secondary place to read or hang out (that isn’t the bed). I love leather because it wears beautifully over time. And this shag rug just adds another layer of texture – and ties into that macrame hanging – while making the room feel so cozy and pulled together at the same time.
